Slovakia has a small but persistent Bitcoin community, with meetups in Bratislava and Košice and a growing number of merchants. Bitcoin is legal, but not legal tender, and the euro remains the official currency. Providers must comply with anti-money-laundering rules and, increasingly, EU-wide MiCA, supervised by the National Bank of Slovakia. Gains on bitcoin are taxed as income.
