Mexico

Mexico is one of the largest remittance markets in the world, receiving tens of billions of dollars a year, which has made bitcoin an appealing alternative for cheaper cross-border transfers. Bitcoin is legal here, though not legal tender, and the peso remains the only official currency. The country's 2018 Fintech Law was among the first in the region to regulate virtual assets, but central-bank rules have largely kept banks from offering bitcoin directly, so adoption runs through non-bank exchanges and peer-to-peer trading. From Mexico City to Guadalajara and Monterrey, meetups and bitcoin-accepting merchants keep the scene growing. Use this map to find the Mexican places where you can spend sats.
