Kosovo uses the euro and has had to manage digital assets amid energy pressures: in late 2021 the government banned cryptocurrency mining to protect the power grid, and equipment was seized. Bitcoin is legal, but not legal tender. There is no broad licensing framework, and officials continue to develop rules; adoption remains small and peer-to-peer.
