Costa Rica
Costa Rica has one of Central America's more developed tech scenes and a growing Bitcoin community, concentrated in San José and the Pacific coast expat hubs. Bitcoin is legal, but not legal tender, and the colón remains the official currency. The central bank has warned that crypto is not recognised and carries no consumer protection, and there is no dedicated licensing regime yet, so adoption is mostly peer-to-peer and merchant-driven. San José and the coastal towns of Guanacaste host meetups and a scattering of bitcoin-accepting businesses. Use this map to find the Costa Rican places where you can spend sats.
