Bolivia

Bolivia reversed course on Bitcoin in 2024, when the central bank lifted a ban on crypto transactions and allowed regulated electronic payment channels to handle virtual assets. Bitcoin is legal, but not legal tender, and the boliviano remains the official currency. The change came as dollar shortages and economic pressure pushed more Bolivians toward digital alternatives, and peer-to-peer trading has risen sharply. Tax and anti-money-laundering rules are still being defined. La Paz and Santa Cruz host small but growing Bitcoin communities. Use this map to find the Bolivian places where you can spend sats.
